OAKLAND, Calif. Head-Royce forced 21 turnovers and turned them into 30 points as the Jayhawks routed Mt. Diablo High 110-36 on Monday, June 16, improving to 10-5 in the 2025 summer season.
The Jayhawks never trailed. Tua opened the scoring with a 3-pointer on an assist from Idan. After a Mt. Diablo High basket, Idan scored five straight points, including a 3-pointer off a turnover, for an 8-2 lead. Mt. Diablo High answered with a two and a three to get within 8-7, the closest it would come the rest of the way. A basket later pulled the visitors within 12-9, and then Head-Royce ran off 10 straight points, with Sanjay, Idan, Lo and Tua all scoring, to go up 22-9.
Mt. Diablo High made a free throw to make it 22-10, and Head-Royce answered with 19 unanswered points. Lo scored off a turnover, Silas added a second-chance basket, Nick made two free throws and Jackson hit a 3-pointer off a turnover. Then Jack took over, scoring the last 11 points of the run on a 3-pointer, three field goals and a free throw to make it 41-10.
Head-Royce kept up the pressure. Nick scored twice off turnovers to finish a 10-0 run that stretched the lead from 61-20 to 71-20. A 15-0 run later pushed the margin from 77-28 to 92-28, with Jack adding a 3-pointer and two baskets and Lo scoring twice. Jackson made two 3-pointers in the closing stretch, and Silas scored the final basket to set the 74-point margin, the Jayhawks' largest lead of the game.
Jack led Head-Royce with 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting and 10 rebounds for a double-double, adding three steals and two assists without a turnover. Sanjay scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting and made all four of his free throws. Lo gave the Jayhawks 14 points off the bench on 7-of-9 shooting, along with four steals, four assists and four rebounds. Nick had 13 points, five steals, five rebounds and four assists, and Jackson scored 13 points off the bench and went 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Idan and Tua scored 11 points each. Tua had a team-high five assists, and Idan added four. Silas pulled down eight rebounds and scored six points.
Head-Royce shot 59.7 percent from the field (46-of-77), assisted on 26 of its 46 field goals and committed only three turnovers. The defense had 18 steals and held Mt. Diablo High to 33.3 percent shooting, including 1-of-13 from 3-point range, and the visitors finished with two assists. The Jayhawks won the rebounding battle 38-19, outscored Mt. Diablo High 10-0 on second-chance points, got 33 points from their bench and went 9-for-9 at the free-throw line.
The win was Head-Royce's second straight and moved the Jayhawks to 10-5 on the summer.
