OAKLAND, Calif. Head-Royce fell to Stuart Hall 45-35 on Saturday afternoon, dropping to 6-4 in the 2025 summer season. A 13-0 Stuart Hall run erased a nine-point Jayhawks lead and decided the game.
The Jayhawks scored the game's first five points. Tua scored on a two off a Nick assist, then hit a three set up by Idan for a 5-0 lead. Stuart Hall answered with four straight points, but Sanjay made a three off another Nick assist, and second-chance points from Jack and a basket from Jackson put Head-Royce up 12-6. After a Stuart Hall three, the Jayhawks hit back-to-back threes. Idan connected on a feed from Lo and Nick followed with one set up by Jackson. That 6-0 burst made it 18-9, the largest Head-Royce lead of the game.
Stuart Hall then took over. The visitors scored 13 straight points on six field goals, including a three that gave them a 20-18 lead. It was the only lead change of the game. By the time Jack ended the drought with a putback off an Idan assist, Head-Royce trailed 22-20.
The Jayhawks kept it close for a while. Jack scored again on a Tua assist, Sanjay added a basket and Idan's second-chance two cut the deficit to 28-26. Stuart Hall scored the next five points to go up 33-26 and never let Head-Royce get closer than six the rest of the way. Nick, Idan and Tua each scored to keep the Jayhawks in range, and Idan's second-chance three off a Lo assist made it 41-35. Stuart Hall closed with a basket off a turnover and two free throws, finishing the game on a 4-0 run.
Idan led Head-Royce with 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three, and added four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. Jack posted a team-high 12 rebounds (three offensive) with six points, and three of his baskets were second-chance buckets. Tua scored seven points and handed out two assists. Nick had five points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks, and Sanjay added five points on 2-of-4 shooting. Lo came off the bench with a team-high three assists, and Val had two steals.
Shooting told most of the story. Head-Royce made 15 of 49 shots (30.6 percent), including 5 of 16 from three. Stuart Hall shot 44.2 percent (19-of-43). The Jayhawks won the offensive glass, outrebounding Stuart Hall 25-23 with eight offensive boards, and held a 11-2 edge in second-chance points. Head-Royce also forced seven turnovers while committing only four but scored no points off turnovers. Stuart Hall made 3 of 5 free throws, while the Jayhawks did not attempt one and were whistled for 17 fouls to the visitors' five. The Head-Royce bench contributed two points.
The loss was the third in a row for Head-Royce, which moved to 6-4 on the season.
